When Strings of Silk Music received a request to provide a music program for September’s “Classical Music Appreciation Month”, it was met with a sincere question: “Has there ever been a month when classical music hasn’t been appreciated?” The answer was the creation of the duo Sings and Strings! With musicians Jennifer Silk on violin and viola and Wendy Cotton, cello and award winning opera singer, they combine their talents with the music and entertaining personalities and stories of composers from Bach to Irving Berlin. To make listening and learning about classical music enjoyable and appreciated, Jennifer introduces each piece to keep the audience wanting more! Sings and Strings has created custom programs for each season with using Vivaldi’s “The Four Seasons” as their guide and requests from the variety of their audiences ages and backgrounds.
Sings and Strings is available for library programs, women club entertainment, schools, holiday events and home concerts. There is a demand for their services for senior living facilities because their music presentation is appreciated for all levels of wellness. Memory care, assisted living and independent living residents benefit greatly from the wonderful healing properties of music.
Classical music has also been proven to increase memory, elevate moods, calm emotions and improve test scores. Whether or not classical music is the answer to all ills, one thing is true: after experiencing a performance by Sings and Strings you will love it!
Having heard Sings and Strings on several occasions, I can honestly say their musicianship and down-to-earth presentation makes for an enjoyable show for everyone.
It has been an honor and a privilege to have you in our audience. Thank you!
